COSTA RICA NEWS – In Guanacaste, President Luis Guillermo Solís, said he expects Guanacastecos to protest with respect, without the need for police repression.

The President said he ordered the Fuerza Pública (police force) to abstain from using force in the face of possible protests marking the 190th anniversary of the Annexation of Nicoya, making Guanacaste a province of Costa Rica.

The people of Guanacaste have been demanding solutions from governments.

This year is the first for Solís, who took office on May 8. The President said last night he expects officials activities in Nicoya can be carried out without problems.
