A total of 16 teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela, on Tuesday operated robots in Costa Rica from their respective countries.
The exercise was all part of the competition organized by the Fundación Omar Dengo (FOD), consisting of teleoperting robots located in Costa Rica, via the internet from remote locations.
Although the operation of a remote machine is nothing new, the competition’s aim is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, as part of the Red Robótica Latinoamericana (Latinamerican Robotics Network) that brings together people and private and public organizations interested in accesssing, producing, storing, distributing, transferring and sharing knowledge produced by research and experiences in Latin America.
This is the second time that his project has been operated in Costa Rica, the first being in 2011.
Each year more teams are added, explained Ana Lourdes Acuña of the FOD.
