On my third day without television (or cable internet connection) I started getting creative about my time. Strangely I don’t miss the television, I was able to sleep fine with a DVD movie.

The website or app offers worldwide airline flight tracking to air travelers, flight tracking information and notifications of private and commercial flights as well as airport activity, flight and airport maps with weather and aviation statistics among other things.
Really cool.
You can browse flights by operator or by aircraft type. Can’t decide, use the random airport or flight button for some entertainment. The flight tracker also provides information on worldwide airport delays and flight cancellations.
If you are wondering why no television or cable internet, on Friday the power went our for a little less than an hour. Nothing unusual during the rainy season in Piedades de Santa Ana, actually everything pretty much west of Escazu.
When the power came back on, the cable system returns to normal. On this Friday, as I learned later in the day, Cabletica had a “averia general” – a system wide crash of their cable – television and internet – that lasted well into Friday night. The last time I checked on Friday around 7:00pm and they were “still working on it”.
Saturday morning still nothing.
A call to Cabletica reveals the “averia” is fixed and I should have cable service. I didn’t. Wouldn’t until Monday (today) when a technician would be available to visit.
The conversation, elevated to a supervisor, went as follows:
Supervisor: “It won’t be Monday until we can send a technician. Anything else I can help you with?”
Me: “Yes, fix my internet!”.
Supervisor: “Sir, as I said it won’t be until Monday. Anything else I can help you with?”
Me: “Yes, fix my internet!”.
Supervisor: “Sir, as I said it won’t be until Monday. Anything else I can help you with?”
Me: “Yes, fix my internet!”.
Supervisor: “Sir, as I said it won’t be until Monday. Anything else I can help you with?”
Me: “Yes, fix my internet!”.
This went on for a few rounds until I suggested he stopped asking me if he could help me.

So, here is Monday and waiting for the technician to visit.
I have had to limit my online activity to using my Kolbi 4G internet connection, which at best can only get 3 bars in some parts of the property, like outside in the patio deck, across from the hole in the ground (pool) and then only at 3G.
At night, in the middle of the night, inside the house, with only one bar I am surfing at full speed. I suppose not many are connected at the time.
