QCOSTARICA – The Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría (SJO) – San Jose airport, was back to normal operations at 3:30am this morning (Tuesday) after being shut down for almost 10 hours.
From 7:30pm Monday, following an eruption at the Turrialba Volcano at 3:24 pm, falling ash on the runway forced airport operations to halt.
Some 13 flights were affected by the closure.

Although airport operations are back to normal this morming, the airport manager Aeris Costa Rica, is recommending contacting the airline for flight status.
