Q24N – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Costa Rican counterpart Rodrigo Chaves in a phone call on Thursday, June 15, discussed the situation in the Kherson region after Russia’s destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant and the prospects for creating an international tribunal for Russia.

Zelenskyy reported this on his Telegram channel, according to Ukrinform.
“I had a phone call with President of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chaves Robles. I told him about the situation that arose as a result of the destruction by the Russians of the Kakhovka HPP dam in the Kherson region. It is important to bring the aggressor to justice,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked the Costa Rican president for his country’s constant support for Ukraine on international platforms and the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
Zelenskyy also noted Costa Rica’s regional leadership in the work of the coalition to establish a special international tribunal for Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine.
He also thanked Costa Rica for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution on the Ukrainian Peace Formula and invited Costa Rica to join its implementation.
The two discussed the possibility of organizing a Ukraine-Latin America summit and coordinated their positions ahead of upcoming international events.
