QCOSTARICA – The kitchens of families in communities across the country, would be nothing without the careful and attentive hand of those who have spent preparing dishes that gradually earned a place in the traditional Costa Rican cookbook.
To strengthen Costa Rica’s culinary identity, the Centro de Investigación y Conservación del Patrimonio Cultural (CICPC) – Centre for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage – has made available to the public seven online recipe books, made up of voluntary contribution of Costa Ricans, over the years.
The recipes were collected through contests by the Heritage Cente, between 2001 to 2013, in order to rescue and preserve the rich cuisine of the different regions of the country.
According to CICPC, besides rescuing the traditional Costa Rican cooking, they tried to make a nationwide gastronomic inventory and share with others the cultural heritage behind each recipe; now available through the site www.patrimonio.go.cr.
Precisely in this web page, in the section on ‘Digital Library’, you can also consult a wide range of publications by the Heritage Center, with research on elements the cultural heritage of Costa Rica.
