COSTA RICA NEWS — A low pressure system is expected to affect the country this afternoon Wednesday, so says the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) – the national weather service – with intense rain, thunderstorms and lightning.
Although heavy rains are common during the rainy season, especially in September and October, the IMN warning means the rain will be even more than normal.
According to meteorologist Daniel Poleo, partial cloud conditions are expected across much of the country during the morning, in addition to warm and muggy temperatures. For the afternoon, rain storms are estimated on the Pacific slope, Central Valley, and the mountainous areas of the Caribbean and Northern Zone.
The rainfall is expected to continue well into the evening, and possible flog patches in the Central Valley.
