A 5.5 quake shook muchof northern Guanacaste Sunday afternoon, its epicenter 31 kilometers south of the canton of La Cruz, as reported by the Red Sismológica Nacional (RSN). – National Seismological Network.


The earthquake occurred at 6:09 p. m.

The Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (Ovsicori) – Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica reported detecting the tremor near Santa Rosa de La Cruz, north of Liberia, close to the border with Nicaragua.

Reports through social networks said that say the quake was felt in various parts of the country, including the Central Valley.

Despite the magniture, no damages, injuries or fatalities were reported.
