A minor is murdered every 12 days in Costa Rica

In late February, over the course of a week, three teenagers were murdered in Costa Rica. Two 16-year-old boys and one 15-year-old boy died in Puntarenas, Alajuelita and Alajuela; all in cases of alleged hitman.

The first week of mid-year school break resulted in numerous traffic accidents, injuries and ten deaths in total.

One of the accidents that sent nine people to hospital, several in delicate condition, occurred on the Ruta 27, near Atenas.

According to the Cruz Roja (Red Cross) reports, the strikes and blockades of last week helped keep the holiday fatalities low.

The Cruz Roja reports attending 793 traffic accidents during the week.

This week is the second week of the school break. On Monday, July 15 the country returns to normal.
