COSTA RICA NEWS – An horrific “bien benidos” (bienvenido is the correct spelling) was the welcome message on the new MOPT signs in Alajuela and Heredia on Monday.

The signs, similar to the one on the east side of Sabana park ahead of the entrance to Paseo Colon, were placed by the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT).

Ticos commonly, purposely or for lack of schooling, words like “bende” (sell) and “votar” (throw), when the correct spelling is “vende” and “botar”.
