Q COSTA RICA – Three Costa Rican men were detained in Colombian waters over the weekend on suspicion of transporting two tons of marijuana in a boat. According to Colombian authorities, the drug was destined for Costa Rica.

The arrested in Colombia were identified with the surnames Chavarría Morales, 30 years old, Mesén Molina, 26, and Rivera Ayala, 41. The Colombian Navy intercepted the boat 70 nautical miles off the coast of Colombia.

Police confirmed that cocaine was also found in the marijuana shipment.

Mario Zamora, Minister of Security of Costa Rica, says Costa Rica has deepened the cooperation between the two countries in the fight against drug trafficking.
