QCOSTARICA – Costa Rica has the highest mobile internet penetration in Latin America, according to data published by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Cepal), reports La Republica.

Costa Rica has 72 active subscribers to the service per 100 inhabitants, a figure close to the OECD average of 79. Brazil is second with 51 percent, followed by Uruguay with 45 percent.

Bottom of the list is Nicaragua, where mobile internet services are used by less than 5 percent of the population.
