(QCOSTARICA) Few details were available when President Luis Guillermo Solis confirmed this morning the dismissal of the director of the National Emergency Commission (Comisión Nacional de Emergencias – CNE), Edgar Ruiz, knee-deep in the midst of the emergency caused by the heavy rains in the Caribbean.

The CNE has been busy coordinating and involved in the relief efforts to the affected areas and villages of the Caribbean coast and the northern zone.

Ruiz’s ouster came at the time when the President Solis was visiting the Limon area, knocking on doors and talking to the many of the affected.

The President said today the decision follows and internal review of the CNE, chaired by Ivan Brenes.

This morning Brenes met with officials linked the Emergency Operations Centre to review the efforts taken so far.
