Hold on to the umbrella for a few more days, the rainy season is going to linger for few more days
Hold on to the umbrella for a few more days, the rainy season is going to linger for few more days

QCOSTARICA – While the rainy season has come to an end in parts of the country like Puntarenas and Guanacaste, officially it will linger for a few days more, in particular in the Central Valley.

Blaming it on the El Niño phenomenon and the storms in the Caribbean, Daniel Poleo of the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) – national weather service,  said it will mean heavy rains in the Central Valley, as we’ve had this past week, will continue for a little longer.

According to the IMN we can expect the rainy season to linger for at least another five days, with downpours especially in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) of San Jose.

Typically, the rainy season comes to an end in the Central Valley between November 5 and 10. Today, Friday, November 13, heavy rain in the afternoon is in the forecast.

“It’s a totally atypical behavior that is still raining this date in the Central Valley and some parts of Guanacaste,” he said Poleo.

In the case of Central and South Pacific, it is estimated that the dry season is set to the first week of December. However, reports from Puntarenas this week indicate many believe their dry season has begun.
