A female dolphin surprised dozens of tourists at Playa Herradura beach (south of Jaco on the Central Pacific), when she approached the shore and died.

The reasons why she came to the beach, apparently wounded or beaten, to give birth to a calf and then died, are unknown. The vacationers sought help but could not do anything to save the poor animal.
