Peru hosts Costa Rica in a friendly encounter today Wednesday (June 5) looking to play into form ahead of next month’s CONMEBOL Copa America in Brazil.

For the Ticos (Costa Ricans), the goal is to prepare accordingly for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, also happening this month, and this includes a second win in a row in friendly play this year.
The Ticos (Costa Rica) beat Jamaica 1-0 in March, playing at home in San Jose. In the Gold Cup, where Costa Rica is a host country, they will have most of their matches played in the United States.
Peru comes to the next Copa America as a strong contender and counts on a win to forget the disappointing 2-0 loss to El Salvador last March. The Peruvians rely on forward Paolo Guerrero, who has scored nine goals in 13 matches with Brazilian club Internacional. He is also the active player with the highest number of goals in Copa America: 11 in 19 matches played amid three editions (2011, 2015 and 2016).
An important absence for today’s game will be Kaylor Navas in the net.
