209226_620(QCOSTARICA) Unless you live anywhere else but here, you wouldn’t know that filling your gas tank got more expensive this morning.

The approved gas hike last week took effect at the 12:01am Friday, pushing up the cost of a litre of super gasoline to ¢643 (¢43 increase), regular to ¢610 (¢35 increase) and ¢514 for diesel (¢34 increase).

Of course this no big surprise, we all knew it was coming, just didn’t know exactly when – just in time for the weekend.

This increase may be a trend upwards after a wave of decreases starting in January, as the ARESEP, the government regulator, is already managing a request of another increase by RECOPE, the state (government) refinery.
