INS Auctioning Off Used “Good” Vehicles

If you are planning to a buy a used car, take note that the Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) – national insurance company – is auctioning off some of its used cars.

According to the INS, on the block next Wednesday (March 12 at 10 am) are six Toyota brand cars, that were part of the institution’s fleet, replaced with newer vehicles.

According to the INS circular, the vehicles are: a 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser, a 2000 Toyota Prado, a 2003 Toyota Corolla, and three 2003 Toyota Yaris. The INS says that all the vehicles are in good working order and start, except for the Prado that a onboard computer problem.

Interested parties may inspect the vehicles, up to Tuesday, at the INS Curridabat office. The auction will be at the INS head office in Barrio Amón.

  1. I see one thing that could be a big contributor towards CR’s economic woo’s! Perhaps it’s departments buying EXPENSIVE cars that new run between $55,000-$80,000 & get bad gas mileage?!?!? I’m SHOCKED at this!!! (but how many locals would be enraged & try to do anything about it . . . )

  2. If the cars are in good condition then why do the INS thieves need new ones? My car is much older. Corruption at its best.
