TODAY VENEZUELA – The six former Latin American presidents invited by the opposition coalition Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) expect that the final count of the votes of the parliament election held on Sunday, December 6, in Venezuela, “be a true reflection of the will” of voters.

“We will be watching that the final bulletins of the (National Electoral Council) CNE truly reflect the voters’ will in all constituencies and that votes may be counted where doubts arise,” the former presidents said in a communiqué presented on Monday in a press conference, Efe reported.

This has been a “clear and convincing victory” of MUD, read former Colombian President Andrés Pastrana, along with his counterparts Jorge Quiroga (Bolivia), Mireya Moscoso (Panama), Luis Alberto Lacalle (Uruguay), Laura Chinchilla (Costa Rica), and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (Costa Rica).

The former Heads of State described as pending “the task of making possible for Venezuela to have the electoral and regulatory conditions that guarantee, from now on, the full exercise of people’s sovereignty and electoral equity.”

Further, they stressed the fact that President Nicolás Maduro “immediately” recognized the defeat against his candidates to deputies late on Sunday.

CNE took the observer ID cards off Quiroga and Pastrana.
