COSTARICA EXTRA – Last night, December 28, the Mercedez Benz Fashion Week San José hel its second show of the year, this time in Guanacaste.
Model and entrepreneur Leonora Jimenez (who is one of the partners of the event), stated that this event will conform to an international standard, which, in countries where fashion is celebrated, two collections are presented annually.
“Elsewhere autumn-winter and spring-summer designs are presented. Although we do not have four seasons in Costa Rica, we do have two seasons, rainy and dry. This will respond to weather projecting needs in the areas of fashion, one for winter and one for summer,” she said.
The event is took place at the Beach Club de Hacienda Pinilla, a beach community on the Pacific coast south of Tamarindo, some 260 km northwest of San José.
Why is the event being held in Guancaste and not in San José as custom in May?
“We wanted to make this event the most aspirational. The beach is the perfect sttting to present the summer and cruise collections. Those who enjoy these types of events will adapt (to the hot conitions),” said Jimenez.
More than 30 models took part in the event, incluing Elena Hidalgo, Isamar Gonzalez and Maria Lourdes Castro.
Event sponsors included Delta, Johnny Walker, Bavaria, Loeral, La Nacion, Movistar and EF.
