Jesús Hernández wrote in to La Teja in of the misleading advertising he came across in the Masxmenoss store in Tibas.

Believing the incredible price for the Dos Pinos ice cream, Hernández says you have to read the fine print to not get ripped off.

It all started with the “REBAJA” price tag stuck to a poster of the Dos Pinos ice cream for ¢990 colones. The regular price for that product is typically up to 3 times that.

At the frozen product section, Hernández noticed that the promo pricing was not to be found.

Asking a store employee, he quickly learned that the deal is on the Vizzio chocolates, a box of which is sitting on top of the Dos Pinos poster. If you look again you will see the box of chocolates. I missed it too at first look.

If you look again you will see the box of chocolates. I missed it too at first look.

Not cool.

The practice at the Tibas store seems to be intentional. Or was it maybe was just the stupid action of a brainless employee? I will leave it there.

Whatever, mistakes do happen, in my experience at Masxmenos more than the other supermarkets, where you have to closely keep tabs on prices at the checkout, where on several occasions I found the price at the cash to be higher than the shelf price.
