The administration of president-elect Luis Guillermo Solís is calling on the resignation of all public officials appointed to key posts of the different public institutions, after February 2, explained the Ministro de la Presidencia appointee, Melvin Jiménez.

In an interview on the radio program, Nuestra Voz, Jiménez explained that they new governemt is asking all key government employees hired/named/appointed or had their contracts renvews after the February 2 presidential elections.

The minister-elect said that once the resignations are tendered, it will be then decided if the new government will re-hire them or not.

Today, the Semanario Universidad revealed that the Laura Chinchilla administration appointed in the recent weeks up to seven directors and managers of institutions, including the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS), the Consejo Nacional de Vialidad (Conavi), the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (Sutel), the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) and the Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep).

The minister-elect added that the Partido Accion Cuidadana (PAC) has set up a special commission to analyze each one of the Chinchilla administration appointees and that it is worrisome at the number of appointments in the few days before and after the election of Solís on April 6.
