At 4pm Sunday, March 30, the Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC) will hold its big party, the last hurrah before the close of the presidential campaign, leading up to the run-off voting on April 6.

PAC organizers expect some 3.000 people to take part in the “rutas de la alegria” (paths of joy) event that is being held in the Plaza de las Garantias Sociales (park in across from the CCSS building), in downtown San José

Music, food and a speech by party leader Luis Guillermo Solís is the order of the day.

Before the party, the PAC is planning a series of motorcades from four points around the Greater Metropolitan Area of San José, that will carry the presidential, vice-presidential candidates and invited guests to the party,.

The PAC is also offering economic support to persons or groups from far away areas of the capital city, through local community organizations.

The 2014 presidenital campaign will officially close on Wednesday, April 2, when both politica parties – the PAC and the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN), are banned from any form of campaigning, according to the rules of the Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) – elections tribunal.

As you will recall, the PLN candidate Johnny Araya, on March 5, withdrew from the campaign. However, according to election rules his name is still on the ballot and voters can elect him. Araya has said publicly that he will serve out his term as president if he is elected.
