The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) arrested early this Friday morning, following a raid in San Miguel de Desamparados, a woman as part of an investigation into the homicide of a 74-year-old American man in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste.
The woman in custody, identified by the surnames Zeledón Abarca, was arrested because investigators believe she accompanied the main suspect and drove a vehicle used in connection with the crime.
However, the primary suspect in the murder of Marc Walter Fleming, who was found dead in his apartment on September 27, remains at large. Authorities have not publicly released her identity.
The elderly man’s body showed injuries to his head. Investigators suspect that the woman used the glass pitcher of a blender to strike him; the resulting injuries proved fatal.
The OIJ is also investigating the theft and subsequent use of the victim’s credit cards. This line of inquiry is part of the investigation into the possible motive for the homicide.
Residents of the condominium reported hearing shouting from inside the home. Security camera footage captured images of the primary suspect, allowing authorities to track her movements.
The suspect, who has made headlines in international media such as Fox News, the New York Post, and the Daily Mail, referring to the woman as the “Bikini Killer”, is fair-skinned, thin, and has black hair. She is approximately 1.60 meters (5’3″) tall.
The OIJ’s investigation to locate the primary suspect is ongoing.
The OIJ Confidential Information Center can be contacted at 800-800-0645 to report information about the woman’s whereabouts.
