QCOSTARICA – A man identified by his last name Chinchilla, a driver for Uber, was arrested Friday night on suspicion of fondling a 17 year-old girl.
The arrest was made in Zetillal de Ipis, in Goicoechea (east side of San Jose), said the Fuerza Publica (police) press release.
According to the narration to authorities by an acquaintance of the victim, she requested from Uber a ride from San Pedro to Zetillal, around 9:00pm, shortly after when the alleged fondling occurred.
The victim said Chinchilla touched her legs when she was getting out of the vehicle.
Given that the driver left immediately, relatives of the victim called police and called Uber for another service to a nearby address, The same driver arrived, surprised by police officers waiting, with the victim for identify him.
Rocio Paniagua, Uber spokesperson for Latin America, said the company has no report on the situation.
“As always, we will cooperate with authorities upon request,” said Paniagua.
