COSTA RICA NEWS — Construction of a sports club, social and special events centre in an area measuring 22,600 square metres west of the capital, in Santa Ana is expected to start in December and operations will begin in September 2015, with the initial opening of tennis courts, a soccer field, semi-Olympic swimming pool, cafeteria and parking areas.

Achilles Viso, majority owner of the project Campo Lago, told Elfinancierocr.com that “… We will continue with the construction of other areas without affecting the comfort of the people who are already enjoying the first stage of operations and construction will be completed sometime around 2017.”

‘… The businessman said that he, along with more than five partners behind the project, studied the market well, believing that rather than being competition, this club will be a complement to this segment. ”

Located in the Radial Santa a Belén (Lindora), the investment of US$20 million dollars will convert the current property, used since 2008 solely as an events centre, in a true country club family recreation centre.

Once complete, the project will have eight tennis courts, six of which will covered, similar to a stadium with a capacity of 1.100. A semi-olympic swimming pool, a futbol5 soccer court, three covered and three open racquetball courts, a rock climbing walls and a 600 metre trail will round out the activities available to some 1.500 members.

The Country Club, in Escazú and the Costa Rica Tennis Club, located in La Sabana, have invested a similar amount in remodelling projects.
