The Hospital Nacional de Niños (Children’s Hospital) in San Jose said on Tuesday the six-year-old boy, whose identity is not being released to the public, hit by a stray bullet and then run over by the vehicle, is out of danger.
Olga Arguedas, director of the hospital, said the young boy is off breathing support, is eating and will continue in a cast so that he does not lose the movement of his limbs.
Arguedas said the boy is in stable condition and expected to fully recover.
In the attack on Elias Akl by two gunmen on Monday morning, the young boy was hit in the back by a stray bullet and suffered a fractured pelvis when hit by the luxury vehicle driven by Elias Akl, the target of the assassins, as he tried to dodge the bullets, that ended his life.
“He is happy, stable and out of danger. He is breathing on his own, he is calm,” Arguedas said.
