QCOSTARICA – The Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (BCNCR) will be first financial institution in the country to have Dual Interface technology for both MasterCard and Visa credit and debit products.
During this month (January), the bank will offer the first ‘smart card’ in its MasterCard Platinum cards.
Dual-Interface cards enables contact and contactless payment allows faster and more convenient ways to pay, especially for low value transactions. Contactless transactions is highly beneficial to merchants (and customers) during peak periods and can increase transaction volume for merchants and issuers.
“With this new technology that allows contactless transactions, data confidentiality of customer accounts is assured and the risk of fraud is reduced very significantly,” said Gerardo Ulloa, Deputy General Manager of Corporate Banking at the BCNCR.
