Q24N – America Movil’s Central American units, operating under the Claro brand, reported first-quarter revenues of US$568 million, up 3.0% year-on-year thanks above all to an 8.0% rise in fixed line subscriptions, including a 16.6% surge in broadband accesses.

Mobile service revenues were up 1.2% to US$380 million, partly affected by the deceleration of mobile data revenues, above all in Guatemala.

However, fixed-line revenues climbed 6.0% to US$192 million.

EBITDA for the region came to US$195 million, up 1.9% year on year, with the EBITDA margin dipping 0.4 percentage points to 34.3%of revenues.

The operator increased its mobile customer base in Central America by 207,000 in the first quarter to reach a total of 15.29 million subscribers on 31 March, down 1.9% year on year.

Fixed-line RGUs were up 8.0% year-on-year to a regional total of 5.48 million.
