According to Dr. Vargas, the health of the baby became complicated Thursday night, requiring a respirator after it had been removed the day before.

Emma was born with the highest weight, 1,080 grams and in good health from birth.

Emma is the second to die. On Wednesday, Diego, the fourth born of the sextuplets, died at the San Juan de Dios hospital for pulmonary hypertension.

Vargas said the other four babies remain in delicate condition due to their premature birth, but are reported stable. Two of the sextuplets are at the Mexico, one in the Hospital Nacional de Niños (Children’s Hospital) and one at the Hospital Nacional de las Mujeres (Hospital for Women).

On Thursday, the mother of the sextuplets, Silvia Villegas, was released from hospital.
