Santiago de Chile – More than 40 Chilean organizations arranged today the final preparations for the march of all marches, which will go next Saturday through arterial roads of this capital to claim countless demands, especially a constitutional reform. We are movements, groups, and federations which for the first time in the history of the country will march together to visualize the Citizen Power because we deserve to be heard by the State, said the website of the event.

Requests include free and quality education and the self-determination of indigenous people, as well as a new drug policy, a greater citizen participation in the government, and the defense of the rights of immigrants and homosexuals.

This movement is not united against the government, but it seeks to build a common approach among all the social actors to build a Constituent Assembly, said Patricio Rodríguez, secretary of the Patagonia Defense Council.

The march will begin at 14:00 local time from Plaza Italia and it will continue into the north road Alameda to the Mac-Iver Street and will end at Parque Forestal, where a stage for an art show will be set.

We will not give the floor to any organization, they will only be able to send a greeting message that we will read. This will be their entire participation, inasmuch as we do not want that the familiar sense of this march, to express the social and cultural diversity of the populations, be confused, said Abraham Armijo, head of the Autonomous Central of Workers.

Among the organizers are included environmental, student, indigenous, women, terminally ill, immigrant, worker, and disabled groups.

Nonetheless, major organizations such as the Confederation of Students of Chile and Coordinator of Secondary Students Assembly, will not participate in the tour, but they gave their members freedom to attend the march.
