ryan-piercy-teleticaQCOSTARICA – After a month of having gone missing, Ryan Piercy arrived home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On the same day, the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) called on Ryan, but are being closed mouthed on the details of the case.

Although details are few and sketchy, a report by Telenoticias, local television channel 7 news, says that Ryan was in fact kidnapped and a ransom of some US$500.000 dollars was paid for his release.  Informal reports say that the ransom had been paid via Bitcoin or a European bank.

The report alluded that the possible kidnappers where South Americans and that Ryan, during his captivity, taken by car to various locations around the country.

Francisco Segura, the head of the OIJ, on Sunday confirmed Ryan’s safe return home, arriving by taxi.

According to Segura, the 45 year old Ryan, the general manager of the Association of Residents of Costa Rica (ARCR) and Casa Canada Group, was submitted to a medical examination to assess his health.

Segura added that Ryan would be interviewed by investigators. The interview was to have taken place Monday (yesterday), no details have been released by authorities.

Many questions remain as to what happened to Ryan during the past month, since his disappearance on January 20.
